English → French
Literary fiction · Work in progress
Publication planned for December 2026
A full-length literary translation of more than 100,000 words, with a strong focus on dialogue, character voice, cultural specificity and consistency across the novel.
The project has involved extensive work on tone, recurring terminology, local references and continuity, as well as regular exchanges with the authors whenever something in the source text required clarification or raised a narrative question.
It is one of the most substantial fiction projects I have worked on to date. The French edition is currently in progress, with publication planned for December 2026.
Nonfiction
The Holy Deserts of the Discalced Carmelites
Benedict Zimmerman
French → English
Historical / religious nonfiction · Published translation
An English translation of a historical study on the Discalced Carmelites, produced largely from scans of the original text. Part of the challenge was simply deciphering sections of old handwritten French before the translation could begin, alongside archaic language, Latin passages, biblical references and highly specialized ecclesiastical terminology.
The project involved considerable research, and I worked closely with the publishing house, whose knowledge of Carmelite history and religious terminology was invaluable whenever the source ventured into particularly obscure territory.
The Gen Z Shift
Benoît Vancauwenberghe
English → French
Business / workplace nonfiction · Work in progress
Publication planned for November 2026
A French translation of a nonfiction book examining Gen Z, workplace culture and the changing relationship between younger employees and organizations. The project required careful work on tone and terminology, particularly around the author’s own concepts and frameworks, while keeping the French clear, readable and consistent across the book.
I also worked beyond the translation itself, flagging factual inconsistencies, unclear passages and claims that needed clarification or stronger sourcing. My sister joined me as a second reader during the review process, helping with the final language pass and providing another perspective on passages where several French formulations were possible.
The project is currently in its final stages, with publication planned for November 2026.
